Cameron Pollard is a dedicated musician and french horn freelancer with a passion for musical excellence and education. He has studied at the Manhattan School of Music and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. As a member of various musical ensembles, Cameron is dedicated to demonstrating leadership and collaborative skills. Cameron has been a soloist and competition winner, performing under Leonard Slatkin at the Manhattan School of Music, playing Frank Martin’s Concerto for Seven Winds. As described in an article by Lucid Culture, “The second movement began as somber ballet, eerie close harmonies in a balletesque tiptoeing rhythm before the brass kicked in, cynically. Strings and brass developed a quasi-flamenco-tinged forward drive, down to a suspensefully tiptoeing Scheherzada lull punctuated by an even more wary Cameron Pollard horn solo.”
Cameron has performed with the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra, Western Piedmont Symphony Orchestra as well as the North Carolina Brass Band. He has performed with the Grammy Award-winning New York Youth Symphony. He has played at venues such as the Jazz at Lincoln Center playing Gillespiana with the Jon Faddis Big Band, and premiered Florence Price’s Symphony Number One at Carnegie Hall. Most recently, Cameron performed at Carnegie Hall’s, Wiell Recital Hall with the New York Chamber Players.
While in competition, he has been described as “musical and charismatic.” In addition to his academic and performance pursuits, Cameron has participated in the 1st International Chamber Music Academy Festival in Ochsenhausen, where he studied and performed with Zora Slokar. His primary teachers include Michelle Baker, Dr. Maria Serkin and Frank Portone. Cameron Pollard’s dedication to his craft and his passion for music education and performance, positions him as a promising figure in the realm of classical music. Cameron has endeavored into artistic management pursuits as he held the position of Financial and Box Office Associate at the Brevard Center Music Festival for the 2024 season. He is actively searching for ways to diversify his career and care for others and can often be found playing in Hospitals and care facilities around NYC. Cameron is a Program Assistant for the Center For All Abilities, serving and assisting with children of diverse challenges in social emotional learning, behavioral issues, trauma histories, and autism spectrum disorders. In addition to the french horn, he loves spending time being active, and is often found with a cup of coffee in hand.
